I love YouTube

This morning I sat down to write a blog post, but was rudely interrupted by "you know who."
He wanted to sit on my lap and have his tummy rubbed.....and believe it or not also wanted to watch a YouTube video....what on earth next I wonder?
Daughter dear came into the kitchen for breakfast, picked up her phone and snapped this photo of "Mummy and her dotish dog."
It stands to reason that no blog post was written....

This year's 139th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show winner was Miss P., a 15 inch beagle from Canada.

The two day show (February 16-17, 2015) was hosted at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan, New York.

Miss P. is only the 2nd ever beagle to win the most prestigious award. 

Here she is looking adoringly into her handler William Alexander's face.

Miss P. emerged Best in Show after Judge David Merriam made his decision from each of the seven groups:  sporting, working, terrier, non-sporting, herding, hound and toy.
She emerged as first among the hounds,then  competed against Charlie the Skye terrier as well as a Portuguese water dog, an English springer spaniel, a standard poodle, an Old English sheep dog and a shih tzu for the Best In Show title.
Eddie Dziuck, who is Miss P's part-owner said this will be her last show, as he hopes to breed the 4-year-old beagle.
Miss P is a grandniece of Uno, who was the first beagle to win Best In Show in 2008.

After writing this, I read about this murder-mystery at this years British Crufts Dog Show. ...this is so sad.

It's been a year ago today
that we heard the sad news
two hundred and thirty nine loved ones were missing
A simple trip turned into a trip to the unknown.
I still can't believe it.
Our continued prayers for Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.

Pretty plants in the country

As I meandered my way through the upstairs bathroom project, I found myself having to drive sometimes into the country to source various items that were needed.
One of those days after visiting the main warehouse for a sanitary ware importer, I took another road home because I'd wanted to visit a plant nursery that I had not been to in ages.

A long winding road leads to A Touch of Eden.

After the winding road I arrived at the canopied tree entrance of a family home.

The Nursery was filled with lots of lovely plants stuffed into every nook and cranny.

Wedding receptions are held here as well, and I can imagine the beautiful photos that are captured for such a  special occasion.

There's also a petting area with animals....I didn't get to investigate since it was closed to visitors.

I didn't venture down the many rows of plants on display, but there were many to choose from.

The sun was out in full force which made this photo a bit blurry, but that still does not detract from the gorgeous bushy bougainvillea in the pot.

Leaving Eden behind....time to head home and get back to work.

 If you were born back in the 60's like me, and loved sci-fi movies, then you must have adored the television series Star Trek.
Every Saturday my dad, my brother and I would hunker down to enjoy a full hour of the show.
Chores out of the way, and some favourite snack in hand, I would always manage to plop on to the sofa just as these words were heard:
"Space.....the final frontier.  These are the voyages of the starship "Enterprise,"  It's five year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before."
Then that lovely music would start and my excitement would build even higher...I loved Star Trek...I was in another world for an hour.
The ship was commandeered by Captain Kirk along with his first officer and science officer Spock and chief medical officer Leonard McCoy.
I loved Mr. Spock.  He was my favourite.
He was half-human and half Vulcan, which gave him pointy ears and raised eyebrows along with an inherited unemotional and detached attitude.
His Vulcan salute  of "Live Long and Prosper" has been adopted by fans everywhere.
Logic driven by nature he had a way of simply saying "fascinating" when things were downright incredulous.


I will always be a Trekkie fan, and even though I will never manage in a million years to make the famous Vulcan Salute, I know that you, my dear Spock will continue to Live Long and Prosper wherever you may be.
Thank you for making my childhood so memorable.

Leonard Nimoy succumbed to COPD after years of smoking. He was 83 years old.
Gone.....but will never be forgotten.
