Bathsheba - A Relaxing Weekend Part 2

The following day Sunday, I awoke early as usual and stepped outside on to the patio and welcomed the day with thanksgiving.
My mantra....Every day is a gift....always make the most of it.
The air was fresh and the sun was slowly creeping its way up in the sky with golden rays touching all around.
We had been blessed with a few rain showers during the night and as the rays touched the wet pebbles on the beach they came alive.
The town was still asleep with the exception of those workers making their way to the bus stop to ride the early bus to work.

Today we were going to attend the service at St.Aidan's Anglican Church and then have lunch at our girlfriend Ann who had extended an invitation to us as soon as we told her that we would be staying in her neck of the woods.
The beach was all ours at that time of the morning making it the perfect time for an early morning walk accompanied by the beautiful sunrise.
A walk to collect beach treasures.

Beautiful sunrise over the Bathsheba shoreline....despite the awful Sargassum seaweed floating in the water.
 Watch out...a gorgeous day ahead.
So peaceful...one feels a connectivity with Mother Earth.

The first rays of sun tenderly touch the iconic Mushroom Rock at Bathsheba
Walking into sunshine.
The seaweed was everywhere but I didn't let that detract from the beauty around me...no not at all.

Soon it was time to head back and get ready for church.

Walking down to the hill to St. Aidan's Anglican Church.

Everywhere was closed and folks were hurrying to the service.
 St. Aidan's Anglican Church

We received a warm welcome from the church members and we sat near a window to enjoy the sea breezes.
The pastor's sermon was about LOVE and it was a fitting lesson for life and living in today's tumultuous world.
As visitors we were invited to stand and say hello and introduce ourselves to the congregation.
We were presented with lovely memorial bookmarks as gifts.
We really enjoyed the service and we vowed we would worship there again whenever we came back to Bathsheba.

Back at the house we had a quick snack to eat and awaited the arrival of our friend Ann who was picking us up to have lunch at her house.
Lunch was a lovely spread prepared by the hostess and it was tasty and filling.
I had made a mango cobbler for dessert and that was devoured quickly as well.
After lunch we headed outdoors.
Ann had warned us that we would need to bring an extra pair of shoes for wandering around in her back yard "jungle" filled with lots of trees.
Her property stretches quite far downhill into a ravine and it was just like hiking outdoors over rough terrain...loved it..
It looks like a jungle out there but it is well tended.
By the time we returned from our trek, a few of Ann's piglets had escaped from their pen and it was fun to see how they were rustled back inside again.
Eureka sitting and catching her breath after the long trek.
The well behaved pigs stayed within the confines of their pen while it was being cleaned.
All kinds of fruit trees are planted in Ann's backyard.
They thrive really well in the cool countryside.
Coconut trees, breadfruit trees, banana trees, plantain trees, fig trees, mango trees....so many trees.
I told Ann it would be quite easy to pitch a tent back there and live off the land...she laughed.

Soon it was time to go.  We bundled ourselves into the van and Ann drove us back to the apartment.
We decided to sit on the patio and watch the sun retire for the night.

Surprise!!  Guess who pulled up.
Daughter dear came by to visit after she gave a ride home to her workman who lives in the area.
I was happy to see her.
She had the grand tour of the apartment and she too loved it.
I gave her some of my precious treasures that I had found on the beach that morning to take home with her.
Off she hustled to go back home to look after you know who.

Later that night I had a video chat with Mr. BrownBerts who "seemed" rather put out that he could see and hear me but I was nowhere around....he wanted me to believe that he missed me but yet there he was enjoying a lovely piece of fish for his bedtime snack...he really had no time for me so I signed off and wished him a good night.
Wonder what Day #3 will have in store for us tomorrow.

  1. I'm still enjoying, vicariously, your weekend away. It looks like some 'garden' that your friend has.

    1. Glad you are enjoying my weekend away...it's almost time for another holiday.
My girlfriend spends most of her weekends in her garden...her orchard provides me with all kinds of gifted fruits.
