A friendly visit

After the rainfall that we received, lots of plant volunteers showed up in my garden, along with tons of weeds as well.
I for one, don't like the idea of just dumping plants that may be worthwhile to others.
Many of my girlfriends sell plants at the various markets and plant festivals, so I usually alert them when I have spares to share.
Saturday afternoon, my girlfriend came by for a visit, and she was happy to take most of the babies that had emerged.
Mr. Brownie was none to pleased that things were being taken from his domain, so he kept a careful eye on the proceedings.

I am not sure what is going on, but just let me sit here in case mum needs me.

What on earth is she doing?  Why is she taking stuff and it's okay?  Why do I have to stop barking at her?  She is robbing us can't you see? Not to mention she is wearing your favourite gardening shoes....

 On the hunt

After a successful hunt, many new babies were found.  They will go to a good home where they will be nurtured until the right time, when they will venture out into the world and go to a new home to have babies of their own.
As for Brownie, he was happy to get a head rub and a tummy tickle from my girlfriend afterwards.....he was okay with that.

Brazen and Brownie AGAIN!!

Brazen has done it again!!!
Saturday afternoon, that freakingggg monkey and his mate (yes, he has a mate) had a tag team royal rumble going, and teased Brownie mercilessly by jumping from limb to limb in the Japanese fern tree, making poor Brownie run all around, and jump up and down barking in a frenzy, until alas, he fell on his left hind leg.
My daughter heard when he yelped out in excruciating pain.  I ran out to him where he laid on the grass not able to move.
Brazen's  mate ran off, but that freakkkkingggg monkey sat in the tree and regarded me with a look of, "There take that, you and your barking dog," on his face.
My gosh, Brownie had just started to get the hang of walking on his healed right hind leg again, and now this...
The other neighbours are complaining too.  They actually have it worse, because they have four dogs, so he teases them one after the other in a circle over and over again.

Brazen and mate running away.

They had already plundered poor Mama Sparrow Bird's nest.
Yes, they ate all the eggs and then threw it on the ground.
Look at all the work that went into building that nest, grass clippings, mango leaves, small tree limbs, feathers and bits of material. The time and patience and dedication that went into it is not lost however, I have placed it in another safer area, and I hope she finds it soon.

Did not want to post any photos of my poor boy in pain, but he will be okay. He has had some painkillers, and his leg has been bandaged in some reliable old time remedies to aid the healing of the sprain.

It's me Brownie!!

After the death of the last of my bow wow clan, the house took on an eerie calm.
I have never ever not had a dog in my life. Even when I was away at university studying, I had roommates with dogs, so I was constantly surrounded by canines.
Only a dog would stay up till all hours of the night to keep you company while you studied, and share in your many snacks, lick your face when your head drooped towards the books, and keep your feet warm under the desk.
My six dogs had been with me for many years, and they were getting on in age, but still I was not prepared for when they left me.
Walking the supermarket aisles, I found myself automatically still reaching for their favourite meal combos...... realising I had to put them back made me quite sad.
I had chided myself that I was not going to get any more dogs in my life, since it was so hard to lose them.
The days were cheerless, and I began to sink into a depression that I was only vaguely aware of.
Then, one day, I received a call that saved my life and my sanity literally.
My mother-in-law was placed in an elderly hospice, and there was no one to take care of her dog, so guess who got to keep him.....ME!!!

Its me Brownie!!!

In your face!!
Who can resist those big brown eyes?
             Soft brown coat? Corky smile?

I'm liking this camera thingy!!

Yes, I love the paparazzi - strike a VOGUE pose!!

Did you call me??

Don't even THINK about touching my ball!!

I said it's MY ball!!

We already had  a strong bond, since I was the one who named him years ago.
Together we will live each day and face anything that comes our way...I am sure we have many adventures ahead of us.
