Herbs

While I was in the city last week, and exiting from F.W. Woolworths, I saw something that made me stop in my tracks.
There was an old lady on the sidewalk across the street selling herbs for cleansing teas and tonics. What we locally call "bush tea herbs." Her small stand was covered with both dried and fresh herbs.
As a child growing up, one could find all manner of sidewalk hawkers with herbs of every description. Not only that, practically all the older folk knew exactly what herb to gather for whatever kind of ailment...sadly this is no more.
My mum knew exactly what to administer if I had a headache, or had sprained my ankle or just didn't feel 100%.  I hated those awful tasting teas back then, and they took me such a long time to drink, that invariably they would be cold by the time I had the nerve to swallow the last mouthful.

I crossed over to the other side of the street to have a look at what the herb lady had available.
A pleasant old soul, we had a lovely chat, and spent some time sharing important herbal information on the items that she had on display.

Dried herbs- medicinal, cleansing and cooking herbs

I came home with a bag of "Cure For All."

I will make some lovely herbal tea, laced with a little honey, and enjoy it.

  1. It's a long time since I made a herbal tea from fresh (or dried) herbs. I did read today of someone making good, old-fashioned, mint tea and wondered about having a go. I'm rather staid in my approach though: first thing it's two cups of hot water and lemon; breakfast is Earl Grey or Lady Grey; mid-morning is coffee; lunch is Red Bush tea; mid-afternoon is coffee. Anything else is a lottery. Me, a creature of habit? Never!

    1. Sounds like you've got your daily beverage schedule already taken care of. The hot water and lemon in the morning is a good ritual.
I'll tell you something, even though Geminis like us are quite spontaneous, we are basically creatures of habit, but then again, you already knew that.
