For those of you who may not know, Lola is my girlfriend's poodle who lives in Virginia.
They were out for a walk enjoying the neighbourhood scenery, when a big dog ran out of its yard and attacked and mauled poor Lola damaging both sides of her chest.
Even though she is no bigger than a handful and seriously hurt, she still wanted to protect her Mommy....what a brave little soul.
She was rushed to the vet for emergency surgery. The vet did an incredible job of saving her life....I will be giving that vet a big kiss when next I visit.
Lola Boo
Lola is back home and is getting better everyday.
As for that other dog he had better not be around when I visit next time.
What a sweetie. I hope she recovers quickly. Tell your friend to give her a gentle hug from a dog friend in Australia.
ReplyDeleteLola, Miss Sweetie Pie, is recovering well and getting stronger every day.. Thanks so much for your kind thoughts, I have sent your gentle hug on to her.
DeleteHi Virginia, This is the first time I've commented on your blog. I found it through Bob and Sophie's. I've always wanted to visit Barbados and I have enjoyed visiting through your blog.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry about your friend's little dog. She looks so sweet yet so pitiful with her wounds. I hope she gets well soon. I hope the owners of the big dog pay the vet bills. That is the very least they could do.
Wanda
Hello Wanda...so nice of you to drop by on my blog...I am a great fan of Bob and Sophie's blog...can't get enough of those two.
DeleteThank you for your kind sentiments for Lola....she is getting better and better every day.
The neighbour has indeed paid the vet bills and is considering putting their dog down.
I hope that one day you will make it to Barbados....it is a beautiful island and we will be happy to see you.
That's horrible!!!! Dogs should never be allowed to run loose. That dog should have been in a fenced in yard. Emergency vets are amazing. They saved one of my dogs before. It was a long scary night. :(
ReplyDeleteTammy, I know you're not far away from Lola and I thought of your dogs too when I heard the news.
DeleteThe emergency vet will be getting a big hug and maybe a tearful kiss of gratitude when I meet him.
The problem sometimes is not that dogs are not in a fenced in yard, it's the folks who come by and don't close the gate properly that is the problem. I'm always reminding my friends when they're leaving to kindly make sure the gate is closed properly, if not I go outside to see them off and close back the gate myself.
Once when Brownie did get outside he must have roamed just across the road and then came back and sat outside the gate and waited....my friend had indeed closed the gate...but Brownie had already made his way outside...thank goodness I was home that day.
A friend's dog was attacked earlier this year - the result was horrible. Fortunately she too has a good vet and her4 dog has recovered. The dog owner is in court soon for having dangerous dogs on the loose!
ReplyDeleteOh my CJ, what a terrible story...so sorry to hear, and I'm happy that everything turned out okay for your friend's dog.
DeleteTo think that a court case has come out of it is just awful.
It's nice to see you...have fun with your brother, and please you two, don't get into any trouble.
I see that CJ read this before I got to it. It's been very frightening here because the person CJ referred to has a number of Wolf Dogs and I certainly wouldn't like to meet them as a pack.
ReplyDeleteWolf dogs must be quite menacing, I would be quite fearful if a neighbour had them.
DeleteI have two neighbours with two BIGG dogs (Rottweiler and I think a mix of Bull Mastiff and Akita) and they love to walk them around the neighbourhood...I have no problem with that....but....I do have a problem when they allow their dogs to urinate by my gate which drives Brownie crazy.
Forgot to say that I'm so pleased Lola Boo is recovering.
ReplyDeleteThanks GB, Lola Boo Girl is recovering nicely.
