Before going to bed last night, I had decided that I would work in the garden, but that was not to be.
What do you do when you're all set for gardening, and it's cloudy and rainy outside?
Looked around for my sidekick to see if he wanted to accompany me outside, and look where I found him........
all snuggled up between some of my indoor plants....all rearranged to suit his body contours.
Why are you bugging me now?
I like lying here all cozy and warm....please go away....
Mr. Brownberts was having none of my folly today....he did not want to go outside, nor disengage from his idle position. I was dismissed with his closed eyes.
What else can I take care of.....oh yes, an indoor task on my "To Do" list.
I decided to clean my pantry, so I set about removing all the foodstuff and checking expiry dates while concocting menus in my mind for the items that needed to be used soon.
After a thorough cleaning and careful repacking, the pantry was just right.
After handling food all morning, I was a bit hungry, it was almost lunchtime..... time to fix lunch.
I made a big pot of vegetable soup, complete with dumplings made from cassava flour given to me by my girlfriend a couple of weeks ago.
Guess who came to investigate while I was cooking.......he ran back out of the kitchen before I could snap a photo of him.
One job down, many more to go......the list is ever changing.
Do you know that an organized pantry totally turns me on? It's so true. And the funny thing is, I don't even cook! I just like the look.
ReplyDeleteGood job!
m.
Mark, I did not know that, but it's good to know?? I love my surroundings neat, so a clean neat pantry is a turn on for me too I guess.
DeleteAn ever changing list!? That implies that you get through things on your list. My problem is that I make a list. Start on it. Add to it. start on something else - usually not even on the list - and so on. When the list gets too long I re-write it. It's the same list but it looks like a new one.
ReplyDeleteGB, amazingly the list is in my head. I have a clear mental note of everything that needs to be done around the house, both inside and outside.
DeleteYes, sometimes other things get in ahead of the things that need to be done on the list, but sometimes after they're completed, I realise that the "unlisted" chore was good to get out of the way too.
Oh and I forgot about the soup. I'm a soup person. I love it. I've never used cassava flour. Now I know that it is a woody shrub of the Euphorbiaceae (spurge family) I'm not sure I want to either. Now I've discovered that tapioca is cassava. There are not many things I do not like but tapioca pudding is one of them. It used to remind me of frogspawn. Yuk (appropriate as another name for the cassava is Yuca.
ReplyDeleteI think if you had to try the cassava cooked Caribbean style that you would enjoy it. It would not resemble any of your thoughts on the tuber....promise. We use it here as a ground provision making pies, pones, chips, cakes, and many other sweet and savoury dishes.
DeleteIt was the word 'spurge' that rather put me off. Leastways for the purpose of my comment. In fact many of the things we eat start off in a rather unappetising form. But, hey, nothing can be as unappetising as the original form of meat!
DeleteSmart dog that Brownie. He got to rest and you got to organize your pantry AND make some yummy soup. Win- Win! Dogs know best.
ReplyDeleteYes, Missy dogs do know best...you should know....wink..wink.
DeleteThank you for such a wonderful post. Bless thy heart.
ReplyDeleteWelcome, it's nice to see you here, and I'm glad that you enjoyed the post.
DeleteI have visited your blog a few times, but I have never commented. I like viewing the photos in and around PR. I have not traveled there for many years, but I think I will soon again. I miss it.
Take care.
