Internal spring cleaning

I have been neglecting my body recently, though not intentionally.
After the big spring clean on the house, I totally forgot about my body. My poor worn body, with no spa treatment on the horizon to look forward to (hint, daughter dear) needed some tender loving care.
Most of us, when we think of a clean body are only thinking about the outside, but we also need to keep up with the cleansing of our bodies internally as well.
I have been sneaking several treats (Rice Krispies treats, Coconut wafer cookies, Milk chocolate toffees, a couple of sodas), oh man, I have been bad.  Empty calories galore.....all sugar....not a good thing.
Time to get back on track.
Into the garden I went, and collected a big bunch of cleansing herbs. I also had to pay a visit to my neighbour for a few noni leaves to make my cleansing tonic.
Before bed last night, I boiled a big pot of water, and when it was ready, I turned it off, and dumped the washed herbs into it, and covered it for the night so that their goodness would steep out during the night.
Never boil herbs....always steep them in boiling water.

A medley of cleansing herbs steeping in hot water

I use the discarded herbs in the garden as nourishment for the plants.

This morning, I strained the herbal tonic off and bottled it up and placed it in the fridge for storage....always use glass bottles for herbal tonics.
Drink within five days.

I will drink a half cup  (one in the morning and one in the evening) for the next few days until it's all gone.
Happy cleansing!

  1. I'm still trying to pluck up courage to do your more drastic internal clesanse. Perhaps I should start with this as the option requiring less bravery.

  2. You can visit the health food store and get a detox tea.....same thing.
You're a brave boy...fight the fight to win the war.

  3. I have been having four glasses of water every morning and then going for a walk, and only eating breakfast an hour or two later. I feel very energetic following this regime. It seems to set me up nicely for each day on a healthy note. I m sure your tea will do the same thing. I did have a massage recently gifted to me by my family for my birthday - that does work wonders :)

    1. You have been a good girl. I wouldn't be able to drink four glasses of water upon rising. I could manage a glass of hot water with lemon in it.
I'm not really a breakfast person, so I usually just have juice with a piece of fruit. Then around 10.30am, I have something to nibble on.

  4. I do this occasionally, too. It's very invigorating. I've had a crazy busy week and ate too many chocolates on Monday. I need some of your tea! :o)

    1. Bad girl like me....climb into my boat and let's paddle together.
The thing is with chocolates, you can never ever have just one...I feel your pain.
I would gladly send you some of my tea if it were possible to do so.

  5. I start every morning (as a rule anyway) with a couple of mugs of hot water and lemon juice. The rest of the day I generally eat very healthily now. But most days I then undo all the good with a couple of glasses of red wine in the evening. But wotthehellarchiewotthehell.

    1. There's a saying..."all the good that you do, sometimes doesn't do any good."
You start out well enough with your mugs of hot water and lemon juice, but then you crash and burn.....smile.
Maybe you can have just one glass of red wine in the evening....wink, wink.
