Birthday

I've been blessed to live to see another birthday, and for that I'm truly thankful.
I should have probably planned a big party to celebrate since it fell on a Saturday this year, but decided against that.

My phone started ringing quite early with well wishes....not that I don't appreciate the effort but I'll be honest, some of my friends can't carry a tune to save their lives, and they know it, so don't feel sorry for them....every year they try their darndest to sing some exotic version of the birthday song, and I suffer through it to the very end......I love you guys but seriously you need to stop.......you know who you are.

Brazen and crew also came out to sit on the wall and wish me a happy day early this morning.

My day was a regular jaunt day with lots of interesting stops.
On my way to the hardware store to purchase a few items for an ongoing project, I passed a Car Boot and Tent Sale in the parking lot/pasture of a Nazarene Church.
It was such a lively and colourful event, that I had to stop and have a look.

Don't let the clouds above fool you, they have been threatening with rain for a few days now, but to no avail.
The sun was hot with an accompanying cool breeze that thankfully kept me sane in the heat.
It was a neighbourhood venture, and lots of vendors took part.  Everyone I came in contact with had pleasant faces and smiles a mile wide as they chatted about their displays and prices.  I didn't need any more "stuff" so I bought food items.   The fish cakes were the best I have had in a long time.
Limegrove Eco Expo: A World Environment Day Celebration!

My next stop was the Limegrove Eco Expo which was being held to celebrate World Environment Day.  I was surprised at the few folks attending the event, but maybe they came by a bit later.

The first item that caught my eye was the Megapower display with its Nissan Leaf 100% electric car - no gas!

With a sale price of Bds$77,000.00 (US$38,500.00) it has many features.
4-wheel ABS brakes, 16amp charging, PV solar panel rear spoiler, bluetooth phone connectivity, push button start, USB connection port, and a 6 month parts warranty.

I was encouraged to book a test drive into the future, and I just may take up the offer.
The charging station (220volts) is installed in your garage and at the current electricity rates from the Barbados Light & Power Co Ltd, the cost to charge is around Bds$1.89 (US0.95) per hour or Bds$13.00 - $15.00 (US$6.50 - $7.50) per 100km.

Lots of ideas to help the environment

  2. What a wonderful and varied post. Where do I start? I love fishcakes - with plenty of tartare sauce. A 6 month warranty: are you serious? Is that considered good? 3 years is, I think, the norm here now but some car makers offer 6 years. When companies and car magazines talk about electric cars they always seem to omit the charging costs which don't work out that cheap if your figures are a good example. And as for your last statement I agree wholeheartedly and have a similar quote from Jaz in my sidebar. I hope she grows old. I hope we all grow old!

    1. I think most car dealerships here offer a 3 year warranty, but I'm not sure why the parts on this electric car only have a 6 month warranty..needs a further investigation on my part.
