A JW knocked on my door in Lewis the day I was leaving to come here to NZ. He was even less welcome than usual but would he leave? No. So he was left standing talking to a door. For some irrational reason I really do not like salesmen who come to the door: especially those selling their particular brand of religion or politics.
Here they travel in "packs". You just see a car pull up, and a "pack" emerges, straightens up, and starts canvassing the neighbourhood. I have never seen a solitary JW on the road, so I find it interesting that only one showed up at your door. My problem with them is that even though they may find you in a very busy state, they always want to engage a few moments of your time.... My mum for years would hide from them until they went away, but one day she threw open the front door and let them in, and went for her bible. When they realised that she was prepared, they made a hasty retreat.
Wow! They're everywhere!
ReplyDeleteYes, they're everywhere!!!
DeleteNo one can doubt their commitment - English storms or West Indian heat!
ReplyDeleteCommitment to the highest...you made me laugh.

Ha! I let my Great Dane answer the door. That tends to keep em movin'. Fun pics!
ReplyDeleteYour Great Dane should get an extra treat for being so helpful. At least he's earning his keep...smile...I love him.
