As you were

As we all know, last week Hurricane Sandy swept through the eastern coast of the US with her fury, and left many homeless, and without a hope in the world.
Without power for days, and with winter approaching, it was a dire situation.
My heartfelt prayers went out to those who were hardest hit.

I had just spent my holidays there, and it was somewhat hard for me to imagine the famous skyline in the dark.

It is now a week later since Sandy released her wrath on New York and its surrounding areas, and things are slowly crawling back to normal.
My family of friends in New Jersey, and New York City were not seriously affected, and for that I am truly thankful.
Now, the power is back on, the subway is back up and running, stores and schools are reopening, and flights are back on schedule.  Gas is being rationed for the while, but this is understandable.

Yet today, is one of the biggest days in their lives.  Election Day, where many will cast their votes to elect (or retain) a president.  Somewhat hard to be concentrating on voting when you have lost everything, but a necessary duty.

My prayers are with them all, as they confront their struggles head-on, determined not to give up......after all, New Yorkers have got the mettle of twenty thousand oxen, and they WILL survive and rise above all their current hardships.

In the immortal words of my dear Jean Luc Picard , "Make it so!"

As a note, I have just realised that this is my 100th post....time sure does go by quickly when you are having fun....Love to all my blogfriends who have stuck with me thus far...thanks.

  3. Gosh. 100 already! Where does time go to. I followed the storm tragedy just before and as I was on my travels and found it hard to imagine the chaos and awfulness of it all. Like all tragedies though, one day for those who survived it will be a distant memory: an 'I lived through that' moment.

  4. Time does go by quickly....
When I look at the photos of the devastation on the US coast, it is hard, because I was just there. Quite a few places I did not get the time to visit, like Atlantic City, and now it has to be rebuilt before I can go there again...it will never be the same.

  5. Congratulations on your 100th! Shouldn't you get a telegram from the Queen or something? If you'll settle for a postcard from Merseyside you could drop your address to scriptorsenex at gmail dot com and I shall be very happy to oblige.

  6. CJ thanks for the congrats...you made me laugh....a telegram from the Queen? How cute!
Lots of folks here don't even want to hear about the Queen since we became independent, but that would have made my day.
I have been meaning to send you a postcard or six for your collection....just haven't got around to it yet....forgive me.
