My doorman

Recently, Mr. Brown Berts has taken to prostrating in every doorway available to him.  Whether it be my bedroom door where he can see in every direction of the house, to the front door where he lies with the curtain billowing over him every second the wind blows, he makes himself comfortable and dozes off to sleep......"Keeping guard".
This way he will know when I enter or exit my room in search of a snack....very smart I must say.

Keeping guard by my bedroom door

Are you going for a snack? I'm coming with you......

Brownie guarding the front door
(note the annoyed look when I called his name and distracted him from his lookout command)

If anyone can tell me how to foil this smarty pants (or should that be paws), I'm listening.....

  1. You will never foil him. It's his job to keep an eye on you and make sure you don't get into trouble or worse - eat something without giving him a bit. I bet he can hear a fridge or pantry door open frm wherever he is. Dogs have superpowers for checking out when snacks might be had.

    1. He has the ears of a super bionic dog...smile.
He always seems to know when the fridge or pantry door is opened, and always appears for a tit bit. I had a mini Twix yesterday, so he could not have any, since it was chocolate, so I had to give him a small piece of a custard cookie instead. After that sweet morsel, he was on me like white on rice. I must say he sits and waits patiently, never jumping up and barking....he really is a good boy.

  3. I was going to say 'Foil Brownie? Never'but when I read that he sits and waits patiently, never jumping up and barking I decided that he really is my kind of pooch.

  4. You would love him GB, he has some pedigree in him, not sure what, but he is immaculate and well-behaved.

  5. It sounds like Brownie and Onslow are kindred spirits. My boy is currently sitting on my feet as I type, so there is no chance of me getting up without him knowing. When I'm upstairs, he sleeps on the top step, so I have to walk over him to get past. Ms B prefers to keep an eye on the street and focuses her attention on passers-by from her spot outside the front door.

  6. They're all quite clever in their own way.
Brownie doesn't sleep on my feet while I'm at my desk, but he does make sure some part of him is in contact with my foot, so that he will rouse when I get up.
Ms. B seems to be the lookout, or does Onslow say to her "You're on watch B. I'm going to sleep."
